1964 Fender bandmaster refinish
One of my favorite Fender designs, this ‘64 Bandmaster desperately needed a makeover. So, what better way to show off than to just go naked.
Ehx Holy Grail mod
These old units have some potential when it comes to utility-focused mods. In this case, an “option” switch was added to give the user the ability to select one of two styles and intensities of reverb. Plus, who doesn’t love the aesthetics of old, big-box Electro-Harmonix products?
EHX Q-Tron + mod
Hands down, this is probably the best envelope filter ever made. Unsurprisingly, it was designed by Mike Beigel, the originator of the legendary Mutron envelope filters of the ‘70s, at the request of and in collaboration with Electro-Harmonix. Again, the big-box design allows for some very useful modifications which make this unit even more impressive. This particular Q-Tron+ was modded with a sidechain, or “trigger”, input to the envelope detector, as well as a way to defeat the detector and allow for fixed envelope sounds. Also, a blend knob was added to tailor the mixed dry signal while in “Mix” mode.
